Salvaging a Legacy
At White Arrow Woodwork, the creative journey begins long before the first cut. My process is a testament to patience and a deep respect for the materials. It all starts with sustainably sourcing the wood, often rescuing beautiful urban trees, wood from orchards that are being removed, or even timber salvaged from wildfire areas. This practice not only provides exceptional hardwoods but also honors the trees' legacy.
Timeless Timber
After the wood is carefully selected, I mill it by hand in my shop. The real work then begins: a slow, meticulous drying process. The wood rests for two to four years, a crucial period that ensures its stability and rich character. This long-term commitment is what allows me to transform raw, salvaged timber into the unique, lasting pieces of art you see today. It's a labor of love, but one that is essential to the integrity of every White Arrow creation.

Every piece of White Arrow Woodwork holds a unique story, born from the very materials used to create it. From a majestic urban tree that witnessed decades of city life to a resilient orchard tree that once bore fruit, or a piece of timber salvaged from a wildfire, each board carries a history. The meticulous process of milling and patient drying preserves this narrative, embedding the wood's journey—from its natural state to its final, artistic form—into every grain and natural imperfection. The result is more than just a piece of art; it is a tangible connection to the past, a story waiting to be told in your home.
